Are you thinking of buying a salvage car? As many people know, there are some Auto mechanics who say that they can fix your car for $2000. Can you buy a 2006 Jaguar Xtype 45,000 miles with minor front end collision salvage title for about $5000? Is it worth the risk? So basicly you can get a great car for about $7000 with low miles rather then buying a used clean title car with about 100,000+ miles.
There are advantages and disadvantages to every decision. Some of the disadvantages include not being able to get full insurance on the salvage vehicle, the steering will never feel right, the car will “track” funny. However, the low price makes it acceptable.
To salvage a vehicle, the insurance company feels that the vehicle is not worth the money to fix it. That being said, minor front end damage to a Jaguar would not be the reason to salvage. There is more to the story and the damage. To make the vehicle roadworthy and pass any DMV inspections may cost you way more than $7000.
If you insure the vehicle with collision you wont get much for it if it’s totaled because it has a salvaged title. Also, most banks will not finance a salvage title vehicle. So if you need to finance a vehicle this may not be an option for you. Many salvage yards do not offer financing for this simple reason.
